This summary celebrates this year’s achievements across our secondary and primary provision. It highlights the strong progress made by pupils, the success of our broad curriculum offer, and the positive destinations secured by leavers, while placing our outcomes in the context of national measures and comparisons with similar specialist settings.
Secondary Outcomes
Our secondary outcomes show clear strengths and encouraging improvement. In 2025, our internal analysis identified a calculated Progress 8 figure of -0.80, improving from -1.31 in 2024, with a particularly strong English contribution. Attainment 8 also compares positively with a number of specialist settings shown in our FFT benchmarking, where our score of 15.6 placed us above several comparable schools. These outcomes reflect pupils’ resilience, the commitment of staff, and the impact of a curriculum designed to meet the needs of learners in a specialist SEMH context.
Assessment information also highlights strong practice across the school. Staff predictions were generally close to final outcomes, showing increasing confidence and accuracy in assessment. There were particularly positive results in several option subjects, including Art, Catering and Sport, where outcomes exceeded predictions on average. This gives us a strong foundation for continuing to refine assessment practice while maintaining ambitious expectations for every pupil.
Destinations and next steps
We are also proud of the success of our leavers, with 76% moving on with a destination in place, significantly higher than the national trend for SEMH children nationally. This is an important achievement and reflects the school’s strong focus on preparation for adulthood, personalised support and partnership working with families and other services. It demonstrates our commitment to helping pupils take confident next steps into education, employment or training.
Primary Outcomes
In our primary provision, the strongest story is one of progress from starting points. Our value-added figures were especially positive in reading (+7.1), grammar, punctuation and spelling (+7.8), and maths (+5.7). While national 2024 Key Stage 2 attainment benchmarks for all schools in England were 74% in reading, 73% in maths and 72% in writing, our outcomes need to be understood in the context of a specialist SEMH setting, where pupils often join with significant barriers to learning. For that reason, the progress pupils make, alongside the personalised support they receive, is a particularly important measure of our success.
